Seeking Soul: An Introduction to Spiritual Practice

In this one-month program we explore the variety of spiritual practice. We’ll journey together to find disciplines that resonate with each of us individually. I come to this work with three central tenets at the forefront.

First, spiritual practice should be pleasurable, natural, meaningful. We should look forward to our practice. So, just as we follow our likes in food, so too with spiritual practice. I happen to like Metta (lovingkindness) meditation; someone else might find contemplative prayer more meaningful; another will find gratitude a more compelling practice.

This program is intended to help each of us decide what’s more relevant and important to our in our spiritual discipline.

Second, we should be able to fit our practice into our daily routine. For many, if not most, people, meditating for an hour is simply not possible. But spending a few minutes each morning and evening in gratitude is doable.

Or preparing the family dinner mindfully is possible. As Alan Watts phrased it: “Zen does not confuse spirituality with thinking about God while one is peeling potatoes. Zen spirituality is just to peel the potatoes.”

Third, essential oils have the power to enhance and deepen our spiritual practice. We’ll discuss the oils that focus our attention inward, that help us surrender to the Divine, that address the transitory emotions and moods that interfere with concentration.

This four- or eight-session program is designed to get you into those skinny jeans — and stay there! This is not a quick-fix but rather a sustained lifestyle makeover. Of course, you’ll learn some valuable information about nutrition and healthy eating. More importantly, you’ll begin to visualize yourself at your goal. We’ll use hypnotherapy and aromatherapy to reinforce all our learnings and to engage our powerful subconscious mind in the process.

Essentially Meditation

Have you focused on meditation or prayer as your spiritual discipline of choice? Would you like to spend a month in a supportive environment practicing your discipline? That’s what this program is all about.

We’ll explore the various ways of meditating so you can refine your approach. We’ll share, in a nurturing environment, our experiences of our practice.

This program will help you to get in touch with your inner self. You will grow spiritually and learn to let go of things that do not serve you. You’ll have four weeks of accountability and guidance, learning different methods of meditation.

You’ll also learn about the specific essential oils that support meditation and prayer. For example, did you know that Arborvitae is considered to be “The Oil of Divine Grace?” It helps us to trust in the abundance of Divine grace. It grounds us and fills us with peace.

This month will help you to find the specific method of meditation or prayer that works best for your personal growth. Even though we’ll focus mainly on the spirit, meditation and prayer will help you create positive changes in your mind and body as well. Essentially Holy Days

Essentially Holy Days is a six-week journey into and through the winter holiday season. We start the Sunday of Thanksgiving week and run through the New Year. We’ll learn about essential oils as we focus our thoughts on gratitude, goals, giving, introspection, self-love, and a new beginning.

The idea of this program is to navigate the winter holy days in the spirit of these celebrations. It’s a way of countering the commercialism and the chaos and stress that characterize this period of time. We focus on the enduring truths and deeper meaning of the holidays.

This program is a quiet little one. There are no readings or demands. We will simply form a Facebook community that is supportive and encouraging. There will be inspiring images and quotes and musical recommendations. You’ll have a space to be in and share in and communicate in.

We will also learn about the particular essential oils that are relevant to each week’s topic. Essential oils can help us surrender, feel gratitude, become introspective. They are a wonderful support for spiritual practices of all kinds.

Preparing the Body for the Inward Journey

This program uses essential oils and related supplements to help the body rid itself of toxins naturally and comfortably, leaving you feeling delightfully light – and aromatic.

Spirit, mind, and body are all inextricably interrelated. The health and wellness of one affects the health and wellness of the others. This month-long detox prepares the body for spiritual practice and growth by creating internal space.

Physical wellness is energetic — and we can use that increased energy for spiritual endeavor. Physical wellness is light and airy — and we can use that increase lightness and airiness for our soul’s delight. Physical wellness is strong and enduring — and we can use that strength and endurance for our spiritual discipline.

I offer individual coaching for those looking for a more customized approach to their spiritual practice. Please note that I do not function as a guide or guru. I am simply a person, like you, who is seeking God and the Divine light within.

I listen. I might suggest specific practice options for you based on what I hear. I listen some more. I have faith that we know what is best for ourselves, especially in terms of spiritual activity. My intention is to provide you with a safe and supportive space to learn for yourself what is right for you.

If you are interested in one-to-one sessions with me, we’ll have a free initial consultation to determine our compatibility of purpose and personality. Face-to-face sessions are encouraged if possible, but phone and Skype interactions are equally effective.
