About
It’s been a winding journey from database programming to nutrition to spirituality. Not a particularly sequential, one-foot-in-front-of-the-other journey — more the kind of zig-zag, jump-from-here-to-there journey real people take in their lives.
The spiritual has long been important to me, but it’s always been part of my private life, my personal domain. It has, over time, become more and more central to who I am and how I want to be in the world.
Until I realized that I want the spiritual to be at the core of my business.
I’m not a guru or a spiritual leader by any means. I’m really just me — Carolyn. I struggle. I meet with daily failures in my quest to be kind and loving. My thoughts rage though my tongue be still. But, like you, I try.
I believe in a Higher Power, which I choose to call God. But I’m equally comfortable with Universe or Truth or Nature, Buddha or Jesus or Mohammad. My own philosophy is perhaps most nearly aligned with that of Vedanta, a spiritual tradition based on the ancient Hindu Vedas.
A central tenet of this tradition is that “Truth is one. Men call it by various names.” I believe that the Divine light shines in everyone regardless of spiritual tradition, background, or current practice.
I hope, through these pages, to offer some support and encouragement to those who seek their greatest good and highest happiness. I lead several programs designed to expand and enhance spiritual practice. I also work with essential oils to deepen spiritual practice as well as to promote physical well-being. In addition, I use hypnotherapy to help people start a new, revive a stagnating, or improve an existing spiritual practice.
I consider myself a proponent of wellness in all aspects of life but really focusing on spiritual wellness. Mind, body, and soul are inextricably intertwined. Impossible, really, to truly address one aspect without consideration for the others.
That IS the Western medical model, but it’s failing in some key respects. One reason I am so attracted to essential oils is that one and the same oil can, at one and the same time, address mental, physical, and spiritual concerns. Likewise with hypnotherapy, which works with the subconscious, where the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual are all smoshed together in one, unique, fantastic “you.”
So on these pages I’ll be writing about prayer, meditation, and other spiritual practices; the use of aromatherapy and hypnotherapy to enhance practice and other aspects of life; kindness and compassion; and other topics that I hope will help you in your journey.
I hope you’ll stay awhile and come back often. I’d also be delighted for you to join me on Facebook. My Facebook page is Essentially Holy. And I moderate a group, A Spiritual Life, that is open to all. Love to see you there.
Peace and blessings,
